Films Films and more Films

I’ve been quite busy lately on a few film sets. From working on music videos in Ireland to short films in Manchester!

I love working on set and documenting the events of the day, I did Unit stills on a great little music video for Hazey eyes with Director Simon Diamond, and amazing actors Erin Kellyman and Tom Blyth, Stills from this can be seen below and on the unit stills page!

I worked on another music video in Ireland for musician Daithi and Director Lochlainn Mckenna, which is on the low down till the video is released, so I’m unable to share photos for this at the moment. But I can share the music video I worked on in the summer for Daithi, which is here: In my Darkest Moments which has won 3 Shark awards since its release!

I also just came off doing Unit stills on a Short Sci-fi at the weekend, the photos for this are in the editing process at the moment.

And last but not least, I worked on a great little short in Manchester called Lippy, which is a short horror for FOX’s Hulu, Huluween film festival. It was great to work with Director Lucy Campbell DOP Phill Wood, and Actress Kierston Wareing. Stills can be seen below, and on the unit stills page.

Portraits for Wool and Water!

I was recently contacted by Wool and Water which is a custom Knitwear label from Amsterdam, they provide knitted bow ties and braces and the sorts for humans and animals alike, their products are beautiful and bespoke, you can see their website here www.woolandwater.nl

I was contacted to visit a play writer in London and photograph him in his home wearing his new bespoke, handmade woollen braces! This was a fun task and it was great to meet Rob Evans and capture portraits of him sporting his new outfit, and learning how he gains his creative workflow in his home!

Me in the studio space the first day I moved in we have done a few tweaks to make it a bit more homely now, It has a lot of character!

Two Music Videos and a Commercial in Ireland

Been busy on a few shoot's in Ireland this past week, had two music videos for the amazing musicians Daithi and 1000Beasts, and a Pride commercial for Aerlingus, all within days apart.

My role was the behind the scene and portrait photographer on each of these shoots, I got some amazing photos and explored some beautiful places, we shot in Dublin and CountyClare in West Ireland which had some beautiful sunsets and sea views, it was great to spend a few days working and hanging out with the same team, which really helped us create some beautiful work.

There weren't many BTS shots of me captured on this shoot as that was my role, so I was always behind the camera!

But I got some lovely sunsets, and the photos from the shoots can be seen in the Unit Stills section and in the corporate portraits part of the website, and il share the music videos in a blog in the due course.

For now have a Sea View Sunset! :)

Blossom Fashion Shoot

I recently collaborated with makeup artist Madz Abbasi for a beautiful blossom tree fashion shoot, the blossoms were going out of season so we sourced some beautiful trees just in time, we had the Beautiful Genine model, and got some amazing shots I'm very happy with and of course had a lot of fun in the process.

A few Behind the scene shots are below, you can see the main images in the fashion section of my website and a few on this blog!

Commercials, Headshots and Short films!

It's been a busy couple of weeks, I've worked on a few Commercials, headshot shoots and also photographed the behind the scenes on a short film for the 48-hour SCi-fi challenge.

The 48 hour Sci-fi film challenge is an exciting one, as you only have 48 hours to make the film from the script to final edit, so not much sleep is had, but it's a lot of fun all working together to get it made in time. My job was to document the weekend and the spirit of making the film with behind the scene shots!

The final film from this shoot can be seen following the link: https://vimeo.com/263838480

The Snowy Peak District Part Two!

Snow Upon The Peak District

The Second hike in the Peak District was on a snowy day, were we tackled Kinder Scout and what a hike it was! We Scrambled up some Rocks to the top which was an adventure in itself, once at the top the views where beautiful seeing the snow meet the hills.

On this hike I only managed to get my Canon G9X point and shoot out due to the extreme cold weather my hands where frozen for every shot but it was worth it!

While at the top the weather decide to take a turn for the worse with 60mph winds and snow blowing our way, it was tricky for me to stay up right and I had plenty of falls to follow, But even with all this weather, we had an amazing time and an adventure I will remember.

Did I mention how stunning the views where from the top, take a look below!

The Beautiful Peak District Part One!

Part one of the Peaks!

Last weekend I had a great trip out to the Peak District with my Partner and some friends we stayed in a rural cottage on a farm and spent the days hiking!

Our first hike was to Stanage Edge a fun little hike with lovely weather, I took my Canon 550D on this hike as its my lightest DSLR, so not to heavy to carry around, and I had my Canon 24mm-70mm lens, which was a little heavy but great for wide shots, I got plenty of photos from landscapes to portraits, and as always on these trips I got my friends to model!

You can see the shots from this hike below, the second hike was another story, which will be in an upcoming blog!

Unit Stills Are Great For Film Promotions!

My Unit stills Photography in online magazines!

It was great to see my unit still's from two different films used on online articles to promote the films!

The first one was from the most recent film I worked on, which was Socks and Robbers the article was in the Burton mail explaining why the crew where at an American diner in Swadlincote, check out the article below to find out more and to see a first look at my photos to accompany the article these photos haven't been released yet so its a sneak peak into the set of Socks and Robbers!

The second article is on the Birmingham Live site about a Kickstater campaign to raise money for a Star Wars short film called Padawan Rising, It's an exciting project with lots of stormtrooper's involved. It was great to work on the trailer and it will be even greater if the funds are raised to make the film, as I will hopefully be the unit stills photographer on that to!

See the link below for more information and follow the campaign if you would like to get involved in the film!

The importance of having unit stills photographers on your film's!

These Articles just go to show how important it is to have Unit Stills/ Behind the scene photography on your films, they are great to show the adventure of your time on set, a good source of publicity and help show the films progression. Production stills can also be taken to be used for posters (as seen below for the short film WashClub) and for festival releases to promote your film in the programmes to.

Behind The Scene of Socks and Robbers

Last week was an interesting shoot I was BTS photographer on a little short called Socks and Robbers a bank heist film, it wasn't your normal shoot it involved sock puppet masks and CGI, this made for some interesting photos, from actors walking around with sock puppet characters for a head, to green screen masks!

It was a very fun shoot with a talented crew, we shot in the Nottingham council house which is stunning inside, and a beautiful bank scene was created by the talented art department!

Nottingham's Beat The Streets Festival!

I was one of the photographers for the DHP company, at the Nottingham festival called Beat the Streets, which is a music festival that raises money for the Framework charity which helps homeless people.

It was a great day and I got to photograph some amazing bands and had a lot of fun too.

In the end, they raised £100,000 for the charity! It was great to be involved in the day and to support the good cause.

Here are a few photos I took on the day more can be seen on the event page.

Make up shoot

Well, I started the year off with a little makeup shoot, it was a lot of fun to be creative and work with my talented friends.

We did the shoot based on the theme of the all-time favourite drink tea, Madz Abbasi was the makeup artist for the shoot so she had some great ideas on how to infuse tea into the makeup on the model Fatosh.

We did a teacup style shoot which reflected the pattern on the mug on to the model Fatosh's face to create a teacup look using her ear and cheek,  We wanted to create an arty style with this so used a plain white backdrop, and created shadows using natural light and a softbox light.

IMG_7632-2.jpg

We also did a lifestyle shot of Fatosh drinking herbal tea in a colourful shoot with bright makeup and a hipster fashion theme.

IMG_7417-2.jpg

These photos can be seen in the fashion part of the website, I really enjoyed the shoot and want to thank Madz and Fatosh for there hard work!
